UG Rebrand

With all the craziness in the world today UG is in the middle of a renaissance, or re-birth, or what is more commonly called a rebrand. It wasn’t planned this way, the timing sucks. But it’s the hand I have been dealt, that same awful hand everyone has been dealt.

It started back in October of 2019 once I finished my third and final map of the Ozark Highlands Trail. My website had been woefully outdated and the timing was right. Rebrand, build a new website, and offer online retailing. Now I may finally stop getting those e-mails: “where can I buy your maps?”

I wanted to change things up, and get an outsider’s perspective. After all, this has pretty much been a one man show since the beginning. I hired Slatthouse Creative for their professional guidance. I’m excited about the changes, and I hope you are as well.

The heart of the UG logo will remain the same, the combined letters of U & G. However, the color has changed from brown to burnt garnet to make the logo ‘pop’ off of the maps. The font has changed from Trade Gothic to Proxima Nova for a thicker shading and easier legibility.

The cover of UG’s maps will also change. This was necessitated by my multi-part series. I had to make it clearer that there was more then just one map covering a specific trail. To have more space to write what is within the coverage of the map is very helpful, and to have my logo in the top left corner will help my maps stand out. I can’t wait to apply these new covers to my maps as soon as my remaining stock sells out and it is time for a new edition.
